pain

jeezus, nearly ripped off my fingernail today.
Okay, a while back, I was opening up a roll of quarters at work, which consists of banging the thing on the metal tray we keep coins/bills in until it rips open.
Except my right middle finger kind of got in the way and got smashed up.

sparing you the gristle. it wasn’t bloody, it was just heavily damaged. there was an air pocket under the nail, at the back, that slowly over a month-ish, grew and grew as the seperated portion of the nail steadily advanced towards the fingertip. eventually, it reached the sea, and the whole nail was just loose, attached only at the back. this fell off, and regrew until it hit the dent in my finger, and stopped, or rather, didn’t. the front half of the fingertip was hardened fake nail, the back half was normal nail, but the lip of the nail was in the middle of the fingertip instead of at the edge.

this continued for some time before i finally snagged the damn thing on something and tore it loose. bled a little, as i recall after a couple days it came off and re-regrew, but still didn’t heal.

the funny part came later; i thought it was scar tissue, but it turned out like a year later that it was a fungal infection. i was having ingrown toenails looked at, and they immediately recognized it. took some antibiotics, the nail grew out normally and has been perfectly fine ever since.

i’m an idiot. go see a doctor if you have something wierd.

also i bought toys from disney’s atlantis, which was totally cool.
