superkomputator

new computer consists of(for now)

brand new duron 950 cpu
motherboard with built in sound
new box
fan
256 meg of ram

256 meg of ram? my god man! surely not!

wow. just wow.

what’s more embarrassing than how piddling this all sounds today is that this computer sat unassembled for like three years.

5 gig of memory(a one and a four) isn’t much these days, and I could get a 40gig for $80 at Fries, less if I catch a sale.

this was referring to hard drives, not ram. imagine trying to live with only five gigs of storage today.

and thus, two komputers.

this never happened.

What good is a second machine, beyond learning how to network two machines together? Scanning! I hate scanning, because unless it’s a black and white drawing, it takes FOREVER. and it eats up all your resources, and you can’t do anything else on the computer while doing it.

simpler times. i can’t imagine what it was like to be a graphics professional in 1998, which is when this rig would have been top of the line.
