Personal Opinion: A few choice photos with larger thumbnails are better than dozens of smaller “unreadable” thumbnails.

Of course, as you’ve seen on (the website formerly known as) Rusted, I still tend to make posts with dozens of thumbnails every now and then, when I have lots of photos to post.

I’ve found if I’m posting one or two photos, that 300px thumbnails are about perfect. 3-6 photos, and I’ll size it down to 200px or 150px. Anything over that, and I stick with 100px.

I really really like the way Dooce does thumbnails, but it is more work, since you have to size them oddly. Although, there is an MT plugin to do that for you, which I’ve been meaning to look into – Maybe I’ll do that.

as i recall, you didn’t get off work until late that night, and you didn’t show up until everybody was in the living room playing ddr with the lights off. not good photography lighting, and i didn’t(and still don’t) like using the flash much.

i wish there was a way to force the light-meter light(the orange thing that comes on before the flash) to stay on during the exposure, so i could take orange-flash pictures. an led flash would be awesome.

if i taped over the flash-lens i could leave it on, in some modes i think the lightmeter does stay on for the exposure… need to experiment more.

The orange led is a focus assist. It only comes on when there isn’t enough light for the auto-focus to focus on the subject by itself.

I agree, though, that it would be cool to have it as an option. One of the camera phones Samsung makes has two white led’s on either side of the lense, which serve as a surprisingly effective flash. They don’t work too well past about six feet, but that’s what you get from a camera phone.
