there’s this movie coming out, perhaps you’ve heard of it.
as much as i like to talk smack about (more) obsessive star wars toy geeks, and as much as i can talk about how disappointingly average the last two movies were, star wars still has a vice-like grip on my soul, and more importantly, my wallet.
i mean, honestly. while hanging out with eric and jill and scott and annie and jeff the other night, i wanted to get some of the new dark chocolate m&ms put out to promote the new movie. annie drove me over to freddies, but we couldn’t find any of them. so i bought six clonetroopers.
because they had like twenty and at $5 apop that’s a much better deal than the 4pack of the e2 versions online. sure, technically i would have bought the clones anyways. but that just proves my point. the fact that the e3 clones look enough like stormtroopers to let me use them as either, and that that is a selling point for me, speaks to how firmly i’m addicted to this universe.
i’m not letting myself touch the e3 artbook because it’d be like reading a novel before seeing it’s adapation; all you’d see is how much better the novel was. same here, if i look at the concept art i’d just be disappointed.
anyways. lucas confirmed some information on the TWO star wars tv series. first he called the badass clone wars cartoons a ‘pilot series’ which will be picked up in the fall as a half hour, full 3d series. i can’t wait.
there will be a second show, a live action show, which could be good. they’re going to write the whole first season before they start filming, and he’s planning to hire the writers, the showrunners, and then step back and let them do their stuff.
it’s going to be set between the trilogies. lots of potential either way, go check out the new penny arcade for the possible dark side.
also, there’s a trailer up for serenity aka all of joss whedon’s unused ideas for firefly condensed into a movie. looks big and badass.
apparently the doom movie is coming out this year. the rock leads a team of marines to another planet to fight bad bad things. it’s going to feature, reportedly, a five minute first-person sequence. that’s stupid and awesome at the same time.
but right now all i care about is star wars and hitchhikers. and finding more clonetroopers.

Sean,
I don’t know if you read comic strips or not, but this week’s Fox Trot is ALL ABOUT YOU!!! http://www.foxtrot.com–today especially, because he’s talking about modifying his toys.
