eez baack!

my computer is back on my desk. the new motherboard might as well be a new heart, so when i installed xp i gave it a new name, dead man kenobi. so much for the classic scifi computer references. i did name my new hard drive bishop.

switching to a new install of windows is tricksy. you poke around and pull out all your files, then you try to transfer settings, but most of the settings you want to transfer you don’t know how to do it, or you forgot how you changed it. or that you even had to change it in the first place. short of keeping a list starting with inserting the install disk of all the changes you make, you’re basically screwed.

better off simply being adaptable. in my case, this means not bothering with most of the integrated bookmark and address book type features, since i find it easier to just have a text file i can easily update and copy.

anyways. slow and boring process so as far as everyone else is concerned, it’s over with. the computer is more powerful, the new motherboard was worth it despite all the hassle, and i’ve now got all the plugs properly plugged. all that remains is re-installing programs, namely half life 2.

next week, do i get san andreas for pc, or the new headphones i want? or something else entirely?

remember those xevoz that only got released in asia? bigbadtoystore.com got them in stock. $20 apop is pretty good compared to ebay prices of late. sold out of hyper guardian (the superhero) before i could scrounge up enough cash, but that’s okay. i’ve got one each of franken-punker(frank’s monster + guitar) and infil-traitor(evil robot) on the way.

it works out, actually; as far as i can tell from pictures, hyper-guardian i’ll like as he is, while frank and infil i want to rebuild. i’m sure i’ll come up with alternate ideas for h-g when i get mine from my pal in singapore, but for now i can live without him.

i picked up the halo 2 figures of tartarus and the ghost with mini-brute. the mini-brute is nice, with good articulation and sculpting. only really lacking swivel arms, but he has a brute shot that he can hold, and he looks good on the ghost. unlike the tiny mc, who looks TINY on the ghost. scale seems a bit off.

tartarus is almost really good. same sculpt as the basic big brute with a different head and his big hammer. the articulation is solid, but not as good as i’d hoped. his shoulders are ball-shaped but not ball/socket or hinge-ball, just a plain swivel. he does have swivel-arm, elbow, and wrist articulation, but without the ball shoulders, he’s still fairly limited in his motion. his neck just rotates, and he has no leg articulation at all.

so he can hold his hammer a couple different ways and that’s about it. the sculpt and paint are good, but hardly that impressive given how gigantic he is. he’d be more impressive if he was exactly the same but half the size.

like the mini-brute, which actually has leg joints.

anyways, if the revised master chief 2.0 head that’s supposed to come out in wave 4 looks good, i’ll probably get a master chief. although i don’t think that will be a green spartan, i think we’re getting mostly alt-colors from here on out. wait and see. the mini-scale hunter 2pack i read about sounds really cool, as do the hot wheels style warthog and ‘hog.
