i’m not as into music as i should be but i like filling out online surveys, so i’m copying this off ryan’s journal. read on if you’re interested.

Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by? — bjork, although don’t take that to mean anything in particular.

What was the last song you listened to? — blood makes noise by suzanne vega, which i heard by random chance on nrk last week and loved. come to find out looking her up on amazon that she did tom’s diner, which is awesome. i need to get tom’s album.

What’s in your record player right now? — two face man by wu bai and china blue, although scott and annie’s kittens killed my headphones so i’m not listening to music for a bit. i’ve been meaning to pick up a good cd boombox but haven’t, and my cd drives are funky and don’t like doing what they’re told.

What song would you say sums you up? — hard to say. i’ll come back to this one.

What’s your favorite local band(s)? — pirate jenny ties with the epoxies

What was the last show you attended? — i’ve only ever been to two shows, both at the same venue, which is now closed. i’m not a show guy. the first was my friends band, and the second was a noise show which was pretty cool.

What’s the shittiest band you’ve ever seen in concert? — i’m not picking favorites out of four bands.

What band do you love musically but hate the members of? — nothing springs immediately to mind.

What is the most musically involved you have ever been? — i was broke all through high school and it’s recently that i’ve put decent money into cds.

What show are you looking forward to? — there’s a bunch of bands i’d like to see live but i can’t promise i ever will.

What is your favorite band shirt? — i’ve never owned a band shirt.

What musician would you like to hang out with for a day? — wierd al.

What musician would you like to hump for a day? — shirley manson.

Metal question-Jeans and Leather vs. Cracker Jack clothes? — i don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Sabbath or solo Ozzy? — i probably wouldn’t know the difference between the two.

Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie? — wouldn’t know.

Blackjack or solo Michael Bolton? — you’re going to fire micheal and samir and give me a raise?

Doesn’t Primus suck? — no. primus rocks.

Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek? — sure.

What was the greatest decade for music? — whenever mozart was born. or the 60s.

How many music-related videos/dvds do you own? — a bunch of dvds of yanzi sun’s chinese music videos(a ridiculous number, actually…)

Do you like Journey? — probably although i can never place band names with singles and albums, sometimes even if i own them.

Don’t try to pretend you don’t love gangsta rap. — i don’t have to pretend.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack? — run lola run, wipeout3, bladerunner, south park bigger longer + uncut, the crow(although i don’t own it), the craft, the monty python/the album of the soundtrack of the trailer of the film of monty python and the holy grail, executive version.

What was your last musical “phase” before you wisened up? — i wasn’t into music much other than the radio, then i got exposed to chinese pop music via the chinese top 20 countdown on the international channel, around the time i was at the KOIN and could stay up late watching music videos on mtv and vh1. and i started buying more cds.

What’s the crappiest CD/record/etc you’ve ever bought? — i don’t know. some older stuff i was initially disappointed by i went back and liked a lot more on second listening. musical taste is so subjective i might hate now something i used to love.

Do you prefer vinyl or Cd’s? — cds, although eventually that’ll switch to mp3s.
