orion

exhibit a
exhibit b

first rumor is project forerunner. if this information is accurate, ‘halo 3′ is going to allow 4 player co-op, and have a more organic mission structure. aka, try to capture that weapons depot. if you succeed, you get tanks in your next job. if you fail, the covenant get tank to use against you on your next job.

giant worlds, etc. could be very interesting and awesome. one theory is that it won’t set foot on a halo and thus is not ‘halo 3′ but more like ‘master chief 3′, hence bungie’s maddening but therefore justifiable refusal to admit what the hell they’re working on. we’ll see.

a — can i tell my family that i’m working on halo 3 yet?
b — no.
a — can i at least tell them that i am working on the next game?
b — okay. wait. don’t commit to it being a game.
a — we’re a games studio!
b — confirm nothing. deny everything. you can’t even admit that we’re paying you.

second rumor is project orion, which posits a halo fps-mmo for the 360. i’m going to dub this ‘halo 4ever’ and say that i probably wouldn’t play it. unless i could play as a grunt.

go to penny-arcade and read their comic about wow vs warhammer, which is glorious, and hit the link to red steel, which is a yakuza game for the revolution where you use the crazy rev-controller to aim and tilt your gun. if you get to use it to emulate katana movements, i am all OVER that.

also in gaming, there’s a new mario game coming to the ds in may that’s being shown on the ds-lite, which is prompting theories that the ds-lite will be released at the same time. which would be rad.

i picked up midnight club for the advance, which cleverly uses the gta 2 engine. unfortunately, it totally blows. i don’t have the patience to do a stupid race over and over until i can do it perfectly, take first place, and advance to the next stage and repeat.

i am getting into animal crossing, though.

i want to see a gta 1 mmo, a fusion with google maps. render the entire world and let people drive around blowing it up.
