so you’ve probably seen the new ipods. i’m probably picking up a new nano, my favorite incarnation yet, for walking about and plugging into speakers on my desk at work.

i want an ipod touch, who doesn’t, but i still want the internet everywhere, so i’m going to hold off until february-ish when my verizon contract expires. at that point i can decide if i want to go iphone, or renew with verizon and get a treo, or maybe the razr with a 2mp camera.

or jump to helio and get the fin, which has a 3mp camera. or forget the camera-phone altogether and just pick up a 7mp canon elph, which is cheaper than most of these things anyways. in any case, no ipod-touch until i’ve definately ruled out the iphone. which will be hard, but that’s six months out. and they already just dropped the price on the 8 gig iphone by TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. it’s $400 now, which is absurdly reasonable for a phone of such potency. and six months out, they’ll likely have a 16 gig model.

in any case, long-term (5 - 10 years), i’m still dreaming of an iphone-type mac tablet the size of the newton. standard os-x desktop on a sharp widescreen touch display. full-size virtual keyboard, and all the apple programs we know and love.

even games for mac. you know, like photoshop and painter, with an apple-style digital pen for mobile artwork. and hey, on the gaming side, maybe with an intel core i could use boot camp to make it my win95/dos emulator for vintage pc games without xp support.

and what would you call the descendent of the newton with its iphone/imac stylings? why, the isaac, of course.
