i realized today that most of my video game playing time is spent in gta and animal crossing. it’s most interesting because gta ostensibly promotes wanton destruction and self-interested mayhem and violence, reckless driving, and anti-social criminal behavior, while animal crossing is a life simulator that ostensibly teaches the value of honesty, community, and hard work.
in reality, i spend most of my time in gta driving around liberty city and admiring the scenery, while i spend most of my time in animal crossing harvesting vast orchards of fruit for easy money, buying stuff to pimp out my house, and avoiding the other townspeople like the plague. gta simulates unrestricted leisure, while animal crossing simulates unrepentant capitalism.
